Head of Engineering — India Engineering Center

Level: Senior Director / VP · Reports to: CTO · Location: Hyderabad, India (onsite, 3–5 days/week)

The role

We're looking for a strategic, hands-on engineering leader to serve as Head of Engineering and site lead for our India Engineering Center. You'll build and scale high-performing teams, partner with global stakeholders, and drive the delivery of our products and platforms — shaping the India center's contribution to the business while acting as a trusted partner to the executive team.

You'll lead an organization of ~35–40 engineers through 3 direct reports: Head of Data Engineering, Head of Emerging Platforms, and Head of Mobile & Video.

What we're looking for

• 10+ years in software engineering, with 5+ years in leadership roles

• Experience building and leading engineering teams (~40+ engineers/managers) in dynamic, fast-paced environments

• A mix of enterprise and start-up / scale-up experience

• Track record of building products, platforms, and teams at scale

• Experience working with US-based companies and managing globally distributed teams

• Ability to influence and build trust with executives and peers across geographies

• Skilled at aligning technical initiatives with business objectives and delivering impact

• Experience leading teams through organizational or technological transformation

• Strong understanding of software development, mobile, AI, and data engineering

• Comfortable balancing strategic goals with tactical, hands-on execution

Key responsibilities

• Lead, inspire, and grow the India engineering organization across software, mobile, and data engineering.

• Partner with the executive team to define and execute the engineering strategy, aligning India-center goals with overall business objectives.

• Attract, hire, retain, and develop top talent; mentor engineering managers and senior technical leaders.

• Foster a culture of collaboration, continuous learning, and high EQ.

• Work closely with US-based teams and global hubs to ensure seamless collaboration and communication, leveraging time-zone diversity for continuous delivery.

• Oversee delivery of multiple products and platforms at speed and scale, optimizing for simplification and consolidation.

• Champion modern tools, technologies, and best practices, leading the team through change with adaptability and resilience.
