Job Description
We are seeking an experienced and hands-on HR Business Partner to support and drive the People function across the company's India operations. This role will report directly to the Global Head of HR and will act as the primary HR representative on the ground in India.
This is a high-impact position, ideal for someone who thrives in dynamic environments and is excited to play a key role in shaping and strengthening HR practices within a growing global organization.
Role Context
The company is currently evolving its India structure to better align with its global operating model, creating an opportunity to build and enhance local HR practices while partnering closely with global leadership.
The HR Business Partner will play a critical role in supporting this evolution, working across teams to bring structure, ensure compliance, and elevate people practices across the region.
This position will collaborate closely with local leadership, including Engineering and other functional teams, as well as global stakeholders, acting as a trusted advisor on all people-related matters.
The role requires a high level of ownership, autonomy, and the ability to navigate ambiguity while driving clarity and consistency in HR processes and employee experience-.
Responsibilities
Act as the primary HR point of contact for India, supporting employees and managers across all people-related topics
Partner closely with Engineering leadership and other managers on performance management, employee development, and team effectiveness
Ensure compliance with India labor laws and employment regulations, proactively identifying and addressing any gaps
Review, implement, and improve HR processes, policies, and documentation (e.g., onboarding, contracts, benefits, employee lifecycle)
Support and guide managers on employee relations matters, including performance issues, feedback, and conflict resolution
Drive and support talent initiatives, including hiring, onboarding, and retention strategies
Collaborate with global HR, Finance, and Operations teams to ensure alignment with company-wide practices and standards
Contribute to building a strong and consistent company culture across the India office
Maintain accurate HR records and ensure HR systems and documentation are up to date
Proactively identify areas for improvement and implement scalable HR practices
Qualifications
Required
~7–10+ years of experience in HR, with strong exposure as an HR Business Partner or HR Generalist
Solid experience with India HR compliance, employment law, and regulatory requirements
Proven ability to operate independently with high ownership and accountability
Experience working in dynamic, fast-paced, or evolving environments
Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence and support managers effectively
Experience partnering with leadership teams on performance management and employee development
Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to bring structure to unstructured situations
Excellent communication skills, with the ability to work across global teams (experience with US-based companies is a plus)
Hands-on, pragmatic mindset with a focus on execution and impact
Preferred
Experience in startup or scale-up environments
Previous experience as the sole or lead HR representative in a region or office
Experience supporting engineering or technical teams
Exposure to organizational transformation or change management initiatives
Background in consulting combined with in-house HR experience
Experience building or restructuring HR processes from the ground up
